Our Experiments with Food
What do you do when you are staying away from home where your favorite foods are not as accessible? You can either forget about them and have them when you go back to India or you can spend time whining about how you can't have them or you can just start making them. That's exactly what we started doing. We started making so many things that we took for granted back in India. Below is a glimpse of a few of our Experiments with Food.
Homemade Dosa and Idly
Now, this might be a very common thing in Indian households but then staying in Hyderabad, we had access to Dosas and Idlys at almost every nook and corner. And many a times I would just get idly batter from my mom and would directly make them, giving no more thought to it. Staying in Sydney, I started making the batters from scratch. So now having a Dosa or Idly is something that I can do at home.
Pizza
Funny as it may sound, Pizza back in India was cheaper and more tasty as well. The pizza I had here from Dominoes and Pizza Hut did not taste half as good. So we ended up making our own version of pizza and had fun.
Curd Rice
No, this is not just Curd and Rice mixed together. It is the tadke waala South Indian special curd rice. I had never made it at home simply coz I could have it at my mom's place. But coming here meant I needed to try my hands at this as well.
